Dead poodle or weave?

From Alert Reader Jeff, spotted at Tucker Boulevard and Park Avenue:

"At first I was worried about the poodle that got hit by a car. Then I worried about the poor bald sister somewhere."

Another WashAve weave

Another location that has become quite the hotbed of weave activity is the intersection of Tucker Boulevard and Washington Avenue. Not sure why — that location is a vacant storefront. But it's possible that beweaved gals are tossing bits of their hair from the car window while they sit at the stoplight.

Lost weave a testament to city cleanliness

I'm excited to announce that the same weave that made its first appearance on this site in February (and a second in April) is still firmly in place at Tucker Boulevard and Gay Street downtown.

Rain, snow, wind, heat — she's been through so much!

Girl, you've got some crap stuck in your weave

I found this last week on Tucker Boulevard, on the sidewalk in front of an African braiding salon. I have no idea what this yellow stuff is that's stuck to it, though. As I was photographing it — which took forever, thanks to my iPhone 3G running iOS4 — a woman popped her head out the front door.

"Are you taking a picture of the hair?" she asked.

"Yes," I replied. "It's for my website: girlyoulostyourweave.com."

She gave me a weird look, chuckled and went back inside. Maybe she will tell her clients.

Or maybe she will leave more material for me on the sidewalk.

Chinese food with a side of weave

Another messy weave explosion on North Tucker Boulevard — this one in front of Chinese Express.

Another weave on North Tucker Boulevard

We've come to a horrible realization: When North Tucker Boulevard is closed for demolition and reconstruction, weave hunting could suffer. What will become of all those weaves that presently find their way to Tucker? Will another part of the city emerge as the new Weave Hotspot?

Only time will tell.

Until then, enjoy this run-of-the-mill weave from North Tucker.

A weave in the night

On nights like this, I really, really, really wish iPhone had a flash. Spotted at Tucker Boulevard and Convention Plaza.

Old weave friends

This weave at Tucker and Gay Street wins the award for Most Appearances on this Blog. She's still hanging on!

Weave parking only

As weary as I am of all these horrible barricades on North Tucker Boulevard, I appreciate their usefulness in keeping the rogue weaves contained and safe from traffic. I also appreciate that this weave appears to be enjoying a cigarette.

Globe-Democrat weave

The St. Louis Globe-Democrat newspaper was shuttered years ago, but its massive building remains on North Tucker Boulevard downtown, now housing a parking garage, a wig shop, an African braiding salon, a dry cleaner, a Boost mobile dealer and some other non-newspapery ventures.

Also: weaves!

Street barricades and rogue weaves

Enough about weaves for a second — isn't it time to do something about all these freakin' barricades on North Tucker Boulevard?

That said, here's my latest find from Weave Central downtown.

Raggedy weave on Tucker Boulevard

I spotted this lovely little weave (which looks like it was plucked directly from some gal's scalp!) at Tucker at Washington one morning before work. When I arrived at the office, a coworker said, "I saw you down the street taking a picture of that weave."

It's nice to be recognized in the community.

The key to downtown's weaves?

I've long suspected that the proximity of a wig store and an African braiding salon was fueling downtown's rogue-hair surplus. Perhaps clients are losing hair on their way in or out of these establishments. Or maybe their garbage bins aren't securely sealed.

Here — finally! — are pictures taken right outside the braiding place on Tucker.

Weaves across the street

Whenever I'm needing new material for this blog, the solution is simple: I take a different route to the office.

Usually, I walk on the west side of North Tucker Boulevard, but on this day I just crossed the street and walked on the east side. Voila: clumps of hair aplenty!

You keep me hangin' on

Funny how weaves can't stay on gals' heads, but they can hang around the streets forever. I spotted this one a month ago — before a ton of snow and rain — and it's still firmly in place at North Tucker Boulevard and Gay Street downtown.

Many weaves look alike

After a while — as the signs at baggage carousels remind us — many weaves look alike. Sometimes my recordkeeping isn't the best, and weaves get away from me.

Going through photos on my phone last week, I stumbled across these photos from who-knows-when. They were taken in front of the Shell station at North Tucker Boulevard and Convention Plaza.

Downtown's magical weave sanctuary

I think it's time the intersection of North Tucker Boulevard and Gay Street downtown was declared a federal weave sanctuary or something. It almost never fails to produce. I credit its proximity to a wig shop and an African braiding salon.

Bar-hopping downtown weave

I can only assume this weave stumbled out of MoBar and collapsed here in the street after unsuccessfully locating its car.
